Photobiomodulation (PBM) Therapy encourages tissue repair, reduces inflammation and pain, increases strength, and speeds up recovery.

Photobiomodulation (PBM) Therapy is a red and near infrared light therapy that encourages tissue repair, reduces inflammation and pain, increases strength, and speeds up recovery. When the cells in the body absorb this level of light, chemical energy is transported, which increases blood flow.

Wavelengths between 620-670nm and 830-850nm have been shown to help improve skin health, reduce joint pain, and enhance muscle recovery. Photobiomodulation (PBM) is the utilization of electromagnetic photon energy to trigger photochemical changes within cellular structures. The cell’s mitochondria are particularly receptive to PBM. At the cellular level, visible red light and near infrared light energy are absorbed by the mitochondria, which perform the function of producing cellular energy. PBM acts as a catalyst of the mitochondria’s enzyme and increases the cell’s energy. Read more at Joovv.com.

Disrobe to your comfort level. The area you are targeting should not have clothing covering it.

Position yourself 6-12 inches from the lights.

You will sit or stand in the red-light room for 10-15 minutes and the machine will automatically turn off.

Use of PBM can:

  • Promote wound healing and tissue repair
  • Relieve pain and inflammation
  • Help mend sun damage and stretch marks
  • Provide short-term treatment for carpal tunnel and rheumatoid arthritis
  • Help with recovery from injury
  • Improve sleep
  • Improve circulation
  • Stimulate new blood vessels to form
  • Help with seasonal affective disorder
  • Restore normal cellular function and protects cells from future damage
  • Reduce wrinkles and scars
  • Decrease psoriasis lesions
  • Improve hair growth
  • Prevent recurring cold sores
  • Increase collagen production
  • Alleviate acne

How often should I receive red light therapy?

You can see benefits by sitting or standing near the red light for 10-15 minutes at least 3-5 times per week to maximize benefits.

Do I need protective eyewear?

No. Red light therapy is safe for your eyes. However, avoid looking directly at the lights for a long period of time.

What is the difference between infrared and near-infrared light?

Both red light at 660 nm and near infrared light at 850 nm have been proven to enhance cellular function. The main difference is that red light is readily absorbed by skin tissue. Near infrared light is not visible to the human eye and penetrates into deeper tissue.

Can I wear clothes when absorbing red light?

You can wear clothes during your treatment sessions, or you can disrobe to your comfort level. Just make sure that the area of your body you're treating is fully exposed to the light and not covered by any clothing.
