CRYOTHERAPY

The benefits of cryotherapy include reducing cellulite, recovering faster after intense training, speeding up recovery time, improving joint function, reducing inflammation, improving sleep, boosting the immune system, and improving circulation.

ABOUT

Cryotherapy, or cold therapy, involves subjecting the body to extremely low temperatures (-250℉). During a 2-3-minute cryotherapy session, blood vessels in the skin’s surface constrict, which forces blood away from your tissues and toward your core. The body then removes toxins and inflammatory properties in your blood. Removing these from the tissue means your body is less likely to feel sore, even if your workout is intense. After the cold exposure is over, blood flows back into the tissues which are enriched with oxygen, nutrients, and enzymes.

HOW IT WORKS

During a 2-3-minute cryotherapy session, nitrogen lowers the body’s temperature 30-50℉ which causes blood vessels in the skin’s surface to constrict, which forces blood away from your tissues and toward your core. The body then removes toxins and inflammatory properties in your blood. Removing these from the tissue means your body is less likely to feel sore, even if your workout is intense. After the cold exposure is over, blood flows back into the tissues which are enriched with oxygen, nutrients, and enzymes. Read more at Medical News Today.

YOUR SESSION

We ask that you book your session at least 10 minutes prior so we have time to get the machine ready for you.

You will be with a staff member for your entire session. You must remove all jewelry and any metal/piercings. It is recommended that you pat yourself dry with a towel and avoid applying oils, lotions, or colognes before the session. We will provide you with gloves, a robe, socks, and slippers to wear. Undergarments are required. You’ll enter the cryotherapy chamber and the staff member will assist with your session. You can rotate, relax, or move around if you want. You can get out at any time. After 2 minutes the staff member will hand you your robe and you can exit the chamber.

FAQ

Is nitrogen dangerous?

No, nitrogen is a non-toxic gas. It is 78% of the air we breathe.

Is cryotherapy uncomfortable or painful?

No. The process cools the skin’s surface but does not freeze tissue, muscle, or organs. The body just feels cold and is tricked into believing the cold is life-threatening. You may feel a “pins and needles” sensation which will go away after the session.

How often should I do cryotherapy?

To begin, you should come 3 times a week for the first two weeks. For the next two weeks, you should come 2 times per week. After that, you should come once per week. Cryotherapy sessions must be booked at least 24 hours apart.

Should I work out before or after cryotherapy?

Yes! You can work out before a cryotherapy session to ease sore muscles. You might notice increased energy and greater flexibility when working out after a cryotherapy session. Just make sure your skin and undergarments are dry before coming in for your session.

What are the risks of cryotherapy?

There are minimal risks of cryotherapy. Blood pressure fluctuations during the treatment by up to 10 points systolic, allergic reaction to the extreme cold temperatures (rare), and activation of some viral conditions (such as cold sores, etc.) due to the stimulation of the immune system can occur but are unlikely.

What is the age restriction for cryotherapy?

It is required that clients be at least 16 years of age with parental consent for a cryotherapy session.
